Perfect Pitch

SOLD

16 inches x 20 inches

Mixed media with collage, acrylic, paint pen, and spray paint

While this piece looks similar to others in the collection, this one is very special to me as I did it to honor my mom, who has been battling Lewy Body Dementia, the debilitating disease that Robin Williams was diagnosed with posthumously. The piano is my mom’s true passion and she has been playing at a concert level throughout her life. She possesses “perfect pitch” - the ability to recognize the pitch of a note or produce any given note simply by hearing it - so I thought this was an apt name for this piece. The photograph in the center is my mom in the 1960s, superimposed on the hands of Stevie Wonder playing the keyboard. And the photo at the bottom right is my mom as a young girl playing the piano at a recital (she believes it was from 1948, when she was just 7 years old).
