Orange You Clever
20 inches x 24 inches on canvas
Mixed media with collage, spray paint and stencil
Made from analog, hand torn and glued abstract collage and mixed media (using spray paint, stencil acrylics, paint pens and oil sticks), my “Cut and Paste” collection of abstract typographic pieces was designed with the intentional goal of paring down the number of varied elements and colors and utilized typography, graphical elements and negative space to create a strong initial visual impression.
This was the first work created in the series. While I felt the black background made the other elements of the piece stand out, I felt like white negative space surrounding the collage elements would enhance it further; the works that soon followed were mostly made using unpainted, white canvas.
