acrylic paint and Floetrol on 17 1/2” circular wood panel

This îs a work I created mid-2020 in my garage during the mandated shelter-in-place. I named it “Nazare” because it reminded me of the legendary big wave surf spot in Portugal which bears the same name..

The process I used combined acrylic paint with a paint additive to make the paint more fluid, and then each color was poured onto the wood panel and allowed to create patterns and bubbles as the colors combine and begin to dry. This was also one of the first pieces I created using a surface other than traditional canvas.

This piece is made of solid wood and covered with varnish, suitable for hanging or can make a great side table with the addition of table legs.
